MBE Online Practice Exam 10 official questions

  • Based on official NCBE content outline for the MBE
  • Updated for April 2026
  • Perfect for law students and bar exam candidates

Unless you want to practice law in Louisiana or Puerto Rico, you’ll need to take the Multistate Bar Exam (MBE) in order to practice law in the United States. The MBE is a 200-question multiple-choice exam that covers the following legal topics: Civil Procedure, Evidence, Torts, Contracts, Real Property, Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Constitutional Law. All of these topics are also tested on the Multistate Essay Exam (MEE). The MEE also tests the following subjects that aren’t on the MBE: Agency & Partnerships, Family Law, Corporations, Secured Transactions, Conflict of Laws, and Trusts & Estates. Accordingly, our multiple-choice practice tests don’t cover these MEE topics. They only cover MBE topics.

Although Louisiana and Puerto Rico don’t use the MBE, the bar exams for those respective jurisdictions still have a multiple-choice component, so taking this practice test can help you prepare for the bar exam regardless of where you decide to sit for the bar exam.

To help prepare you for the MBE, we’ve designed this practice multiple-choice test. The test has 100 questions. It most heavily covers Criminal Law, Torts, and Evidence. Taking this exam will get you acclimated to the types of questions that will be on the MBE, the MBE format, and the MBE’s time limit of three hours per session. To be clear, during the real bar exam, you won’t take all 200 MBE questions in three hours. Three hours are allotted to each of the two MBE sessions, each of which has 100 questions.

It’s important to note a key difference between this practice exam and the real MBE that you’ll take on exam day: the real MBE uses scantron sheets, while this practice test is entirely online. This means that the MBE you’ll sit for during the actual bar exam requires you to fill in bubbles on a scantron sheet, rather than using an online test as you did for the LSAT. One exam day, the MBE questions will be given on a paper handout. In contrast, on this practice exam, all of the questions are online, and you’ll click on the correct answer rather than fill out a scantron sheet.
