MBE Complete Practice Exam [NEW]: Bar Review 2026 official questions

  • Based on official NCBE content outline for the MBE
  • Updated for April 2026
  • Perfect for law students and bar exam candidates

Going into the bar exam, you might think that passing it is just a matter of knowing the key legal rules that will be tested on the exam. But knowing the rules is only half the battle. The other half is managing the bar exam’s format, structure, and time limits. You don’t need experience with them to pass the bar, but developing familiarity by taking practice questions can certainly help! To that end, we recommend taking our fourteen practice multiple-choice tests. These tests will prepare you for the Multistate Bar Exam (MBE), a multiple-choice exam consisting of 200 questions on various legal subjects. These subjects are Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Evidence, Torts, Real Property, Contracts, and Civil Procedure. All applicants for bar admission in the United States must take the MBE as part of the bar exam. The only exceptions are those applying for bar admission in Louisiana and Puerto Rico.

On the Uniform Bar Exam (UBE), which is used in forty-one American jurisdictions, the MBE will account for half the available points. If you’re not taking the UBE, the MBE will still be a substantial part of your score (except in Louisiana and Puerto Rico), but depending on your jurisdiction, it may not necessarily be worth half the points. The MBE questions contain various fact patterns designed to test your understanding of legal issues. An issue may overlap between different legal subjects. For example, a question could involve both Evidence and Criminal Procedure. After reading the facts, you’ll read four possible answer choices. You must choose the answer that best answers the question. More than one answer choice may seem reasonable. In this situation, you have to compare the answers to see which one is better, then pick that one.

This practice exam focuses on Real Property, Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, Criminal Procedure, and Torts. The exam doesn’t have a timer built into it, so if you’d like, you can spend as much time as you want answering the questions. But if you want to replicate the time-limited conditions of the bar exam, we recommend timing yourself so that you have only three hours to complete this practice test. Time management is crucial on the bar exam; you need to be able to correctly answer all 200 questions in the allotted time to receive full credit.
