MBE Online Practice Exam 8 official questions

  • Based on official NCBE content outline for the MBE
  • Updated for April 2026
  • Perfect for law students and bar exam candidates

For many test-takers, the Multistate Bar Exam (MBE) is the most complicated part of the bar exam. The MBE requires the test-taker to spend six hours responding to 200 hypothetical scenarios that touch upon various legal issues. Because the test-taker has only three hours to complete each 100-question section of the MBE, many test-takers struggle as much with stress management as they do with the black-letter legal rules. To help reduce your stress on the exam, we’ve created this multiple-choice practice exam. The practice exam is designed to give you experience answering real MBE questions under timed conditions. With practice, you can become a good enough test-taker to pass the bar exam with flying colors.

All of the questions on this practice exam are real MBE questions from past administrations of the bar exam. The questions have been licensed for practice use by the National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE). This practice test primarily challenges your knowledge of Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, Torts, and Evidence. These 100 questions are tested frequently on the Multistate Essay Exam (MEE), so practicing these multiple-choice questions can also help you remember the applicable rules for the MEE. (Note that unlike the MBE, which always tests the same subjects, there isn’t a guarantee for which subjects will be tested on the MEE in any given year.)

If you want to make this practice exam feel more like the real thing, here are some helpful tips: Time yourself to take the exam in three hours. This is the actual amount of time you’ll have for each 100-question set on the MBE. We also advise you to take the exam in a quiet location where you won’t be interrupted. On exam day, you’ll have to turn in your phone before the exam, so you should also shut off your phone during this practice exam. Likewise, avoid checking the internet. If you’ll be using a laptop during the real exam, the exam software will shut down all applications except for the exam, so you won’t be able to access the internet. The bar exam is a closed-book exam, so you should practice under those conditions as you study.
