Day 2 is the Multistate Bar Exam (MBE), a 200-question, multiple-choice exam. 100 questions are administered in the AM, then another 100 questions in the PM.

What subjects will you be tested on?

Arkansas Conflict of Laws, Equity, Domestic Relations (Family Law), Wills, Estates & Trusts; MEE: Agency, Commercial Paper, Corporations, Federal Civil Procedure, Partnerships, Secured Transactions, Contracts, Criminal Law and Procedure, Constitutional Law, Evidence, Real Property, and Torts (Arkansas law also tests Criminal Law & Procedure, Real Property, and Torts.)

What’s the minimum score for MPRE?

A scaled score of 85 on the MPRE is required for admission as a prerequisite to being admitted to the Arkansas Bar.

How is the exam scored?

Both the MEE and MPT scores are scaled to the MBE. The MBE is weighted 50%, the MEE is weighted 30%, and the MPT is weighted 20% to determine if the applicant has achieved a minimum scaled passing score of 270 or higher.

When are the results released?

Results are released about 4 weeks after the exam.

Can I transfer my MBE scores from another jurisdiction?

Arkansas accepts an MBE scaled score of 135 or higher from a concurrent or immediately succeeding exam.

What about reciprocity across states?

In order to be eligible for admission without taking the Arkansas Bar Exam, the applicant must be a member in good standing of a reciprocating state bar and have engaged in the active practice of law for 5 of the 7 years immediately preceding the application. The applicant must also be a graduate of an ABA accredited law school.
