What is Voluntary Dismissal?

A Plaintiff may dismiss the case early in the proceedings or the parties may dismiss the case by filing a stipulation of dismissal; in other circumstances, the plaintiff must seek an Order of Court for a voluntary dismissal. Fed.R.Civ.P. 41.
