What is Amend?

To alter or change by adding, subtracting, or substituting an enforceable legal document. The parties can agree to amend a contract, often without putting up new consideration. Also, applies to filing a new pleading or official litigation document. An amendment to a contract is usually done with the mutual assent of the parties.
