Did you know that in Nevada, suffragists convinced the state to give women the ability to vote six years before the Nineteenth Amendment? The success of Nevada’s suffrage movement is just one example of how everyday Nevadans have used the law to make their state a better place. If you want to make a positive impact on your state as a lawyer, you can take the bar exam and become an attorney. Here’s the basic information about the exam: the bar exam is administered twice a year: once in February and once in July. The February version of the exam takes place from February 24–26, 2026, while the July version takes place from July 28–30, 2026. Unlike most bar exams, Nevada’s bar exam takes place over three days rather than two.

The regular deadline for applying for the February version of the exam was October 1, 2025, with a fee of $755, but you can still take the exam so long as you apply by the late deadline of December 1. Applications submitted after October 1 incur a $550 late fee. The regular deadline for applying for the July version of the exam is March 1, 2026, but you can still take the exam so long as you apply by the late deadline of May 1. The application fee for attorneys is $1,055.

Nevada doesn’t use the Uniform Bar Exam (UBE). Instead, the Nevada Bar Exam is administered over the course of three days. On day one, you’ll take six essays about Nevada law. On day two, you’ll take the 200 multiple-choice questions that make up the Multistate Bar Examination (MBE). On day three, you’ll take two essays that test your legal writing skills.

What subjects will you be tested on?

The essay portions of the Nevada Bar Exam test both Nevada law and federal law. The subjects covered in the essays include Agency, Community Property, Conflict of Laws, Constitutional Law, Contracts, Corporations, Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Evidence, Persons and Domestic Relations, Real Property, Remedies, Partnerships, Torts, the Uniform Commercial Code (including Articles 2 and 9), Wills, Estates and Trusts, and pleadings and practices under the Nevada Rules of Civil Procedure and the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.

Like in other states, the MBE tests Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, Contracts, Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Evidence, Real Property, and Torts.

What’s the minimum score for the MPRE?

To pass the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) in Nevada, you must receive a scaled score of at least 85.

How is the exam scored?

To pass, you must achieve a combined scaled score of 138 out of 200. Each section is worth a third of your score.

When are the results released?

You should expect to receive the results in either May or October, depending on whether you took the exam in February or July, but there is no guaranteed date for when the results will be released.


Can I transfer my MBE scores from another jurisdiction?

Yes.

What about reciprocity across states?

Nevada doesn’t have reciprocity.
