What is Clerk of Court?

The administrator in charge of receiving and recording all filings in civil and criminal cases in a given jurisdiction, often the clerk to a county court of general jurisdiction. This may also be the clerk of an appellate court who will receive, docket and assist in the administration of appeals pending before the court.
